Sacraments

We love to hear from you

The Seven Sacraments

A sacrament is an outward sign of inward grace ordained by Jesus Christ which grace is given to our souls.

  1. Baptism

Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments (CCC 1213)

Baptism is a sacrament which cleanses us from original sin, makes us Christians, children of God, and members of the Church.

Baptism is necessary for salvation because Christ has said, “unless a man is born again of water and the Holy Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”

Who can receive baptism: Everyone not yet baptized and only such a person is able to be baptized (CCC 1246)

Infant baptism is performed every three months. Contact Mr. Charles A. Oppong – 0244978841

  2. Holy Eucharist

The sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ together with his Soul and Divinity, under the appearances of bread and wine.

The Holy Eucharist is the centre around which all the other activities in the Church community revolves

  3. Confirmation

Confirmation confers a character on the soul of the baptized who are joined more perfectly to Christ and His Church, and are given a mission as mature Christians to witness to Christ, and to spread and defend our faith (canon 879, CCC 1285)

  4. Reconciliation (Penance/ Confession) – Sacrament of God’s mercy

The faithful who approaches the sacrament of penance or reconciliation through the absolution given by the priest, obtain pardon from the mercy of God for the offences committed against Him, and they are reconciled with the Church which they wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example and by prayer labours for conversion (CCC1422)

Times for Reconciliation: Fridays 6:00 pm-6:45 pm; Saturdays 6:00 pm or by appointment

  5. Holy Matrimony

It is a matrimonial covenant in which two baptized persons, a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, and it is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring (canon 1055).

Prospective spouses should present themselves to the priest at least 3-6 months for adequate preparation.

  6. Anointing of the Sick -Sacrament of Healing

By the sacred Anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord that he may raise them up and save them. (canon 998, CCC 1499)

  7. Holy Orders

Holy Order is the sacrament by which bishops, priests and deacons of the Church are ordained and receive power and grace to perform their sacred duties.
